Help Muslimat al-Nisaa Muslim Women's Shelter

The recent earthquakes around the world have spurred tremendous waves of communal philanthropy on a global level. The promptness and consistency of aide delivery has allowed dire needs to be successfully met. While helping our global neighbors is important, it is equally imperative to address the needs and struggles of our own community.
It's no secret that poverty and homelessness are pressing issues within our society, but did you know that fifty percent of all homeless women and children in America are fleeing domestic violence as well? We come across those affected by unhealthy living situations on a daily basis and in many cases are unaware of their conditions. The time has come to start facing these issues and work towards the betterment of our community. It is with this goal in mind that the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at George Mason University invites you to join us in raising money, supplies, and awareness for our less fortunate neighbors.
Muslimat Al-Nisaa is an organization located in Baltimore, Maryland whose mission is "to provide health, education, shelter, and other social services to the undeseserved population in general, and to women and children in particular". It needs our help to continue providing these services. This is why we will be holding a fund and supply drive throughout the month of April and we would very much appreciate your help in this effort. Some ways to help out are announcing our project through flyers, e-mails, and by word of mouth, as well as by hosting a donations box, where community members can contribute supplies. You can play a large role just by spreading the word to your members and encouraging them to get involved.
If you have any specific questions, please contact Sarah Albani of GMU MSA at: salbani@gmu.edu.
Mustafa Center is endorsing and sponsoring this noble effort by our youth at GMU MSA. We are collecting the items below for the Muslimat al-Nisaa shelter that houses our homeless Muslim sisters. The collection box is located in the prayer hall in the middle of brothers' and sisters' sections.
